The road to Hell is paved with good intentions

I had intended to strr blogging, really I did!  Today I had surgery on my ankle - there is not a lot to do and my brain is quite fuzzy.  I'll be living in the recliner in Dennis' "room" - the only bathroom is on the 2nd floor. Stairs are not my friends right now. I do have a lovely view from the window.

I'm working on my afghan again - at least for this week. It's fairly brainless. I'm knitting on the trim. The pattern called for knitting it separately and then seaming it on. I changed it so that I am picking up stitches and knitting it on - I'm not fond of all the seaming in this afghan. Next week, I will start tackling some small cowls, mitts and boot toppers slated to be gifts. I won't be out holiday shopping this year.

I finished my Angostuta Vest - I really wanted to finish it and wear it just once before my surgery (laying out the sweater to block was not an option post surgery).  Classes at my LYS: Knitters Mercantile are great - the very best teachers, everything from basic to challenging classes, LOTS of additional support if you need it - you can walk in and if they aren't busy, any of the staff can help. Plus, I have made some great friends:  both among the students and the teachers.

I learned a LOT making this vest - fitting being the main issue. I had to knit one size for the bust - a smaller size for the back and a larger size for the tummy/hip area. I love my age, but the fitting issues are not fun. Sewing and knitting my clothes help solve this - IF you know how to make the adjustments. I also learned the matress stitch to seam the sweater pieces together. This opens up a whole world of sweater options since not all sweaters are knit in the round top-down or bottom-up.  I LOVE this vest - I love that it fits perfectly!!  And, the cabling, oh, I love Ysolda Teague's patterns!
